"Having that tweet read aloud to me, I mean, it was mean," Wright said. "So I don't blame Kevin Durant for responding. I thought it was a funny tweet, but it was a rude tweet, and I've got no problem with KD responding."
But while Wright is admitting the tweet could be seen as rude, was their some validity to his claims that Antetokounmpo has surpassed Durant in the NBA's hierarchy?
The numbers and recent accolades paint a picture that backs Wright's claims.
FS1 host Nick Wright has been known to aggravate players in the past but this time he got through to one of the best in the game as Kevin Durant responded to a series of harsh tweets by the sports personality Thursday night after the Brooklyn Nets lost to the Milwaukee Bucks, 119-120.
Durant was partially to blame for the loss as he missed two game-winning shots, one to end regulation and the one to win it in overtime. The real story was KD being passed by Giannis Antetokounmpo as the best player in the NBA, finishing the night with 44 points, six assists, and 14 rebounds, leading the charge for his Bucks squad.
Nick Wright broke all unwritten rules of media this afternoon on First Things First. He refused to participate in a legacy discussion because the player in question had no legacy.
We are not making this up. Here he is, declaring Dak Prescott's legacy is not on the line this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because Prescott has no legacy to speak of.
Nicholas J. Wright, Esq. defends his clients in this segment targeting, and since today is Black Monday, Nick's taking on NFL coaches as his clients. He starts with Bill Belichick, who's New England Patriots haven't won a playoff game since Tom Brady left, has had one of the worst offenses in the league this season, and has surrounded himself with 'Yes men'.
The veteran coach says he intends to return next year, but Damonza asks... should he? They also talk Jeff Saturday, the unlikely replacement coach for the Indianapolis Colts. Saturday has lost 7-straight games since his debut win, and blew the biggest lead in NFL history, yet Nick attempts to defend him.
Nick Wright alongside Chris Broussard, Greg Jennings and Kevin Wildes reveals his NFL Tiers ranking all 32 teams in the National Football League entering the playoffs. Nick crowns the Kansas City Chiefs the favorites, San Francisco 49ers juggernauts and slide the Buffalo Bills down after their Week 18 win over the New England Patriots
The Jacksonville Jaguars have done it. What a night and what a fantastic win for a team that failed to even qualify for the playoffs last season. With a 3-14 record last time around, some serious questions were raised against the team from Jacksonville.
It would be fair to say that the fans got what they were expecting as it turned out to be an absolute humdinger. The Chargers started off magnificently and were able to gain a whopping 17 point lead in the first quarter itself.
Things weren’t looking good for the Jaguars at halftime as they were 7-27 down. However, they still managed to script one of the biggest playoff comebacks of all time. The contest ended 31-30 in favor of Jacksonville and among all the experts, NFL Insider Nick Wright was the happiest as he had predicted before the game that Lawrence will make like tough for the Chargers.
Stating that in a decorated college football career, Lawrence never lost a Saturday game and the fact that the Jaguars had defeated the Chargers earlier this season, Wright was sure that the Jaguars well move on to the next round.
While that prediction turned out to be true, his next one is raising quite a few eyebrows. Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills will take on the Tua-less Dolphins and while many think that the team from Miami stands no chance in front of the mighty Bills, Nick has a different point of view on this.
In a recent episode of “What’s Wright? With Nick Wright,” the NFL Insider claimed that in case Teddy Bridgewater starts, the Dolphins have a chance of giving tough competition to the Bills. He added that on both the occasions when the Bills took on the Dolphins this season, the team from Miami was able to put up a strong fight.
He went on to add that in the recent Patriots vs Bills game, Mac Jones was supremely impressive and Bridgewater is better than Jones which means that the Bills’ defense might struggle under pressure.
However, Nick also stated that he isn’t sure that the Dolphins will defeat the Bills or not, but if Bridgewater starts, they do stand a chance to script something incredible.
